Governor Cyprian Awiti led Homa Bay residents in marking the 52 nd Jamhuri Day at the Homa Bay stadium. Awiti said his government has started tarmacking the 33km Kadongo- Gendia road. “We have done 10 km and work is going aggressively,” he said. The Governor said the National Government has also awarded contract for tarmacking of the Mbita-Sindo-Magunga-Sori road. He said he will next week meet senior national government officials in Nairobi over the tarmacking of Kendu-Oyugis and Rodi-Oyugis roads.
Mr Awiti asked County leaders, NGOs and individual residents to help in the fight against HIV&AIDS.
The Governor said his government has started lighting up Oyugis town with solar lights, adding that project materials have been delivered and that excavation work has started.
He said plans were underway to start Medical Training Colleges at Oyugis and Sindo Sub County Hospitals.
