They have traditionally been shunned from the world’s catwalks in favour of stick-thin women. But the rise in popularity of plus-size models is gathering pace in Kenya. The plus size market is finally making an impact in the fashion world, and it’s definitely not a moment too soon.
Kisumu Hotel played host to the first ever Plus Size Fashion Affair on the western part of Kenya held on 6th August 2016 aiming to celebrate the ‘big’ African women who are beautiful both inside and out.
Gorgeous plus-size fashionistas, bloggers, models and celebrities congregated together in the name of fashion in an event which had everything plus size in one convenient location.
The plus size fashion affair was organized by the beautiful Winnie Jumah, the CEO of Elegant Modeling Agency and a stylist for regular models and plus-size women.
“I wanted to organize an amazing event to celebrate diversity and promoting that you can look and feel good no matter what your shape or size!,” said Winnie
Aside from the show itself, the plus size fashion affair was the ultimate curvy shopping experience, with an array of plus size designers, retailers, brands and beauty treatments available.
Zuri Afrique, G-bweezy, Nancy Monica Designs, Kate Sandles and Accesories By She were some of the brands being showcased at the event.
