A member of Homa Bay county executive has recorded a statement with Homa Bay police over death threats.The county Chief Officer for Water Marylin Agwa alleged some goons have been trailing her for the last two weeks prompting her to record the statement.
“Some strange youth have been monitoring my movements. They follow me wherever I go,” Agwa said.
She said her car was hijacked on Saturday by the unknown goons and rolled it into a ditch in Mirogi, Ndhiwa Sub County, adding that there were plans to kidnap her.
“I was lucky I was never inside that car when they hijacked it,” she said.
The Chief Officer called on the police to speed up investigations over the matter to ensure culprits are apprehended.
On Monday, Central Karachuonyo MCA Julius Gaya told journalists in Homa Bay town that some goons are plotting to kill the Chief Officer. Gaya said he decided to raise the issue with the media on behalf of Agwa because she had been warned against talking to the press.
Gaya said Agwa is the only county official from his ward and therefore he is concerned with her security. The MCA claimed Agwa elimination plot is being planned by those who are envious of development transformation she has brought in the sector.
“They want to kill this woman because of her steadfast in bringing change in this water department. She has refused to oblige to blackmails by cartels to pay ghost projects and their corrupt deals,” Gaya said.
Homa Bay County Police Commander John Omusanga confirmed the incident and said that the damaged car had been towed to Ndhiwa Police Station.
“We’ve received reports about Agwa death threats and our investigations are underway,” Omusanga said.
The police boss added that there are also claimed damages caused on the vehicle and some injuries caused on the body of the chief officer’s driver.
