The County Government of Homa Bay has lined up a series of activities to help woo investors to the County.
These activities include mini-conferences to be attended by potential investors in major towns a head of the County’s International Investors’ summit scheduled for February 2016.
Senior members of the County’s Executive led by Governor Cyprian Awiti held a successful forum with investors from Kisumu and neighbouring towns in Kisumu to prepare them for the February summit.
The Governor said his government has a basketball of incentives for the investors who would choose Homa Bay as their investment destination.
“We will give you land. We will also give you tax holidays and adequate security,” Mr Awiti said.
He added: “ Homa Bay is the place to put your money. We have vast opportunities in Energy, Infrastructure development, Agri-business , Tourism and the manufacturing sector.”
A prominent investor, Ms Munira Gilani, the Chief Executive Officer of Mayfair Holdings , praised Homa Bay County for organizing the meetings, saying it was the best approach to wooing investors.
She said County Governments should embrace good governance and accountability. Counties, she added, must also ensure adequate security to protect the business community.
Similar mini- conferences will be held in Nairobi, Mombasa and Homa Bay a head of the main summit in February. The investment conferences are funded jointly with international Non-Governmental Organization- USAID.
County Assembly Deputy Speaker, Mr Ellyphalet Osuri said the Assembly supports the Executives drive to attract more investors to Homa Bay.
“As the legislative arm of the government, we will pass laws that support and protect investors,” said Osuri.
