Vihiga will be among counties that will benefit from partnership between the British and Kenyan governments aimed at improving the health sector. Speaking while on a tour of health facilities in the county, British High Commisioner Dr. Christian Turner said the British government is committed towards improving health services in Kenya and were targeting counties in the partnerships. So far they have committed over 10b towards the same.
He visted Itando Health Centre and Sabatia Eye Hospital.
He was accompanied by the deputy governor Hon Caleb Amaswache who spoke on behalf of the county government. The deputy governor thanked Dr. Turner for the visit. He called on the national government to release more funds to help empower the health sector in the county governments.
Also in attendance was Sabatia Constituency MP Hon Agoi and Musalia Mudavadi the Amani National Congress, ANC party leader who is also the patron of Sabatia Eye Hospital. Mudavadi noted that the visit was crucial as it offered a basis for partnerships between Britain and Kenyan county governments.
